Like a few well know British high street brands, Cyrillus is a family affair. Started as a line of children's clothes, the line soon expanded to cover the whole family including housewares.
I think my love of Selfridges is pretty clear, right? One of my favourite departments is home accessories in the basement. I basically want one of everything...
After days and days of promises from the weather forecasters, snow has finally made it south! Waking up and seeing this scene out the bedroom window made me very happy- it's really starting to feel like Christmas.
In other Christmas news, we started decorating this past weekend. I thought we were done and last night I walked into the living room and saw this:
See anything out of place?
This is what happens when the husband ends up at a garden centre alone and suddenly decides the little tree is no longer good enough. He told me I was lucky because there was an even bigger one he loved.
Have you heard of Sixx Design? They currently have a TV show on Bravo in America and I think the nation as a whole has fallen in love with the family.
I found the listing for the home they are living in on the show so thought it would be a fun feature. Can you imagine being a kid and growing up in such a house?!
I snapped this shot on my phone quickly and as you can see we are starting to get settled. My phone is really bad at adjusting the light so it's a bit dark.
I still need to:
1. unpack things for the bookshelf hidden in the back corner
2. hang pictures- you can see them leaned against the column on the right
3. deal with the lamp closest to the camera- it just isn't working for me
4. find some more items for the top of the armoire
So any of you renting in the UK probably know that you can't put holes in the wall unless you are willing to fill them in and re-paint. In our last home we got lucky as the owners had left nails in the wall over the place and spare paint labeled for each room in the attic. But this new place is freshly painted with not one hole in sight. (Well, except for where the husband removed one of those hideous mountable tv brackets off the wall in the master bedroom- how on earth I'm going to cover those six screw holes I'll never know.)
Anyway, we're 99% unpacked and all our paintings and pictures are stacked neatly together. I was afraid we weren't going to be able to hang anything since that would involve a lot of work and we have no idea of the paint colour. Yes, it's boring magnolia but have you seen how many shades of magnolia exist in this country?
Today I found my solution- excuse the hideously bad commercial but these really are the answer!
